Then, before you do some cooking with a whole chicken, make sure that you remove all the giblets inside it. After that, you must clean it thoroughly using cool water. Let it dry; you can use some paper towels or you can just let air dry it for you.

Season it with the spices that are indicated on the recipe you are following. In case that you just want a regular baked chicken, it is okay if you rub some salt and ground pepper inside and outside of the fowl you will bake. If you want to make the dish taste and smell nice, you can also season it with some ground oregano.

The Oven

The next step is to put the chicken in an ovenproof skillet. However, you must make sure that the chicken will fit in the skillet that you will use. Alternatively, you can use a roasting pan.

In addition, if the recipe requires a marinade, you will need to mix it together with some olive oil. Afterwards, pour it on the chicken before you proceed on baking the chicken.

If the oven’s temperature is already in a desirable state, you can now bake the chicken. If you have preheated your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, you will need to bake it for approximately one or one and a half hours. However, if you are going to bake a large chicken, you must wait for its skin color to change into golden brown.

Also, it is advisable to leave your chicken in the oven uncovered. Moreover, if you want to check if the meat is nearly done, you can use an instant-read meat thermometer. Once the chicken’s thickest part (the thighs) reached more than 170 or 180 degrees Fahrenheit, you can stop baking.

How To Bake ChickenThough, if you do not have any thermometer in your kitchen, you can check if your chicken is done by cutting in the deepest parts of its thighs. If the meat inside the thighs is not pinkish anymore and no blood can be seen, then it is all right to take it out from the oven. Nevertheless, before you serve and carve it, let it cool down for at least 10 to 15 minutes.
